moving train caught up with Heo Hoy Kyung to talk about his musical journey so far and the creative process behind his heartwarming singles.

You have just started officially releasing music, what has been the experience so far?

At first, I didn’t even know how to react to all of this because things were quite hectic and everything was new to me. But with this new ‘Hug me tight’ release, I started to feel blessed and I’m so thankful to my friends and staff who helped me so much and were there for me all the time.

How would you describe the music you make and what impact do you hope it will have on your listeners?

I would say the music I make is just my honest self-confidence. I hope my music can comfort my listeners and inspire them as well.

Which artists do you admire?

I am fan of black skirts and cold game.

Congratulations on the release of ‘Hug Me Tight’, could you tell us more about the song and the story it tells?

“Hug Me Tight” is about love in hate and resentment, although such emotions arise because of the desire for love.

Let us know what your songwriting process usually looks like. Where are you inspired by?

Usually I just try this and that sitting at my desk – and yes, of course, I end up procrastinating a bit. And I draw inspiration from both my daily life and my cultural life.

What does music represent for you?

Of course, making music can sometimes be quite difficult, but music helps me forget all that because it also gives me happiness. It’s my only means of expression, and I’m not really good at expressing my thoughts on social media because I find it a little awkward, so I try to put them all in my songs a la up.

In five years, where do you see yourself?

I will continue to make music!

Apart from music, what do you like to do?

I like to watch American movies and TV shows. To add, I love watching movie reviews and I just love watching things in general, regardless of genre. And I’m not a big reader but I like to read books once in a while. Speaking of which, I just realized that most of my hobbies are something I can do without moving too much, haha!

Share with us any upcoming projects you have for your music.

I would like to continue my musical journey and have a good impact on people’s lives. I will make efforts to push my limits and grow as an artist.
