Since 2018, ABBA Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of two new recordings from Swedish pop legends. And now, after many delays, it seems that there are not just two, but FIVE new tracks come out next year. At least that’s what British music journalist Geoff Lloyd says.
Lloyd announced the exciting news on his podcast Reasons to be happy. He revealed that he recently had a Zoom chat with an ABBA member Bjorn Ulvaeus.

Geoff says Björn has confirmed that ABBA has recorded five new songs. That’s three more than the previous two new songs the band announced in 2018.
The new songs were due out at the end of 2018. After previous delays, the release was again delayed due to technical difficulties and, of course, issues with Covid-19 precautions. The podcast claims the new release date will be 2021.
ABBA plans to browse the songs using virtual holographic avatars Рor ABBAtars Рin place of Agnetha, Bj̦rn, Benny and Anni-Frid themselves.
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet to reach to the director of ABBA, Görel Hanser. She couldn’t confirm that five new songs would be released, but stuck to previous comments on the two new tracks. “I can confirm that two songs are going to be released, but we don’t know any more at the moment.”
The long wait for ABBA’s new songs
In 2018, the group announced the exciting news that they had recorded two new singles, which were due to be released as part of a Christmas special in December 2018.
However, later that year Ulvaeus confirmed that fans would have to wait a bit longer for the new material. The Christmas special had been postponed to an unspecified date in 2019 – but that year passed without any new ABBA material being released.
In May of this year, Björn told US broadcaster CNBC that the two new recordings would be released “sometime this year” – but now it looks like the release will take place even later.
Both songs are said to be titled “I still have faith in you” and “Don’t choke me”. Ulvaeus previously described one of the songs as being “like a 70s pop song” and “very dancing”. The other one he described as being âmore timeless, more thoughtfulâ and that âit’s Nordic sad, but happy at the same timeâ.
ABBA – composed of Agnetha Fältskog (70), Bjorn Ulvaeus (75), Benny Andersson (73), and Anni-Frid Lyngstad (74) – is one of the most successful bands of all time. After winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with “Waterloo”, they sold over 400 million albums.
