We were saddened to learn of the death of a music journalist Dele Fadele.
It turned out that Dele passed away in 2018 and the sad news has just reached everyone here. Originally from Nigeria, Dele was living in London in the late 1980s where he was eccentric for over a decade on the then-era dive bars, venues, record stores, streets circuit. from Camden and music hotspots.
Every time I went to London he always seemed to be everywhere with his famous plastic bag full of revision copies of records for sale to keep a roof over his head. This plastic bag went with her everywhere, as did her beautiful smile. A smile full of life and contagious and mixed with his distinctive enthusiasm and passion, dragging and electric. He even had his own group Well-being Heroine who released two House / Dance / Synth style singles ‘Cry Blood’ and ‘Starve The Eagle’ via Non Fiction Records in 1990 and 1991 respectively.
His deep love for music was mesmerizing… we would spend hours talking about noise rock, hip hop and afrobeat – he was incredibly aware of a myriad of musical styles and was a completely hip and inspiring presence.
God bless you sir….
